Indian Army Ranks and Salary in 2018 – Dear candidates before joining the Indian Army one should know what all ranks are there in Indian Army. Whosoever is looking to join Indian Army should know that this organization is one of the biggest organization in the world and comes in Top 3 Army of the word.

Mainly there are 2 different categories of Ranks are there in Indian Army Ranks -1. OR, JCOs / NCOs and 2. Officer Ranks. All of them has different Pay Scales, Grade Pay, Military service pay etc.

Now, First of all, let’s discuss different Categories and Types of Indian Army Ranks.

 

OR / NCOs /JCOs Indian Army Ranks –

OR – Other Ranks – If you join Indian army as a Soldier GD you will come in the category of OR ( Other Ranks ) and your first Rank will be Sepoy and after this, you will get the further promotion.

NCOs – Non-Commissioned Officers –  If you promoted Lance Naik up to Havildar you will come in the category of NCOs.

JCOs – Junior Commissioned Officers – If your join directly or get promotion as a Naib Subedar will come in the Category of JCOs.

 

 

Indian Army Ranks

If you Join as a soldier GD in the Indian army you can get promoted up to Subedar Maj. in the Indian army and sometimes you may get a promotion up to Honorary Lieutenant and Honorary Captain.

Salaries of OR / NCOs /JCOs in Indian Army Ranks –

Soldier Rank / OR –

  • Retirement Age – After 19 years service or at the age of 42, whichever is sooner
  • Pay Scale – 5200-20200 INR
  • Grade Pay – 1800 INR

NCO Rank (Non-Commissioned Officer ) –

  • Insignia – Single rank chevron
  • Retirement Age – After 22 years service or at the age of 48, whichever is sooner
  • Pay Scale – 5200-20200 INR
  • Grade Pay – 2000 INR
  • Military Service Pay – 2000 INR
  • Total Cash In Hand – 30,000 INR ( Approx )

 

NCO Rank (Non-Commissioned Officer ) –

  • Insignia – Two rank chevron
  • Retirement Age – After 24 years service or at the age of 49, whichever is sooner

  • Grade Pay – 2400 INR
  • Military Service Pay – 2000 INR

NCO Rank (Non-Commissioned Officer ) –

  • Retirement Age – After 26 years service or at the age of 49, whichever is sooner.

  • Grade Pay – 2800 INR
  • Military Service Pay – 2000 INR

JCO Rank (Junior Commissioned Officers ) – JCOs are commissioned as officers from the NCOs ranks and are broadly equivalent to warrant officers in Western armies.

  • Post Name – Naib Subedar
  • Insignia – One gold star with stripe
  • Retirement Age – After 28 years service or at the age of 52, whichever is sooner.
  • Pay Scale – 9300-34800 INR
  • Grade Pay – 4200 INR
